About Us

Plant a Seed...READ

Our call to action is the Annual Plant a Seed... READ Campaign, which enables interested community members, businesses, etc. to support the enrollment of children in the Imagination Library Program, literacy events, parent workshops, Play to Learn Center and operating expenses for Plant a Seed…READ!

  • Fundraising for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Hill County. (Imagination Library chooses and sends age appropriate books but does not pay for them.  Local groups, such as Plant a Seed...Read raise the money to pay for the books.

  • Enroll children in the Imagination Library

  • Develop literacy activities for communities, families, and child care providers

  • Provide opportunities for volunteers

  • Make a difference in children’s lives prior to starting school

What is Imagination Library?

Each month, over a million books are sent out to preschool children in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.  A child enrolled in the Imagination Library receives an age-appropriate book once a month until their fifth birthday. For $30 a year, a child will receive a book once a month for the family to read aloud.  The benefits of reading aloud to children include:

  • Bonding

  • Literacy Skills-Comprehension

  • Concepts about print

  • Language

  • Love of reading

  • Brain development
